A wet Ride London?
Discussion
I shall probably pack arm warmers. Wearing those pack a mack things over bare sweaty skin is horrible. Won't bother taking overshoes as its just unnecessary bulk. I remember doing the 70 mile New Forest sportive in the torrential rain for at least 50% of the ride and it was pretty horrible.
I'm really hoping for a dry ride as it won't be very pleasant having to ride in heavy rain. Some friends of mine did the one a few years ago where Ride London 100 became Ride London 86 because of the weather.

That'll be fun stood around in the waiting pens getting rained on.
With the forecast I'd be getting some thin overshoes and an ass saver sharpish. Nothing worse than wet and soggy feet and arse.
Something like Velotoze will keep out the road spray as well as water travelling down your legs.
A SS Castelli Perfetto Light or Imprevesto would be ideal for the cooler wet forecast.

Although that's an outlay and you'd need in asap!
A lightweight gilet would be useful if not.

Morning,
Those of you that have already registered. Can you tell me roughly how big the kit bag is?
I’m travelling up today and staying tonight - wondered whether (if I travel very light) I will be able to get all my overnight stuff in it, to save me going back to my apartment after the ride.
Cheers

I don't mind the rain as much as the idea that they will cut the route short! Especially as I have a relatively late start. Planning on summer gear, (Charity have supplied a jersey) but back pocket will have my rain jacket squashed into it with some light gloves (ETA Not going for long finger gloves now - Stick to Mitts)

Brilliant we go months without a drop and then it rains on the day of the ride??
I was going to clean and lube my chain tonight (with dry lube) I might hold fire and see what the forecast is tomorrow. Didn't expect to need wet lube.
Exactly what I was thinking. Mines sparkly and clean now. So waiting. Wet lube is great, but it gets EVERYWHERE I was going to clean and lube my chain tonight (with dry lube) I might hold fire and see what the forecast is tomorrow. Didn't expect to need wet lube.

Be still my foolish heart, as an ex Black Cab driver, I’mquietly praying for a downpour of Biblical proportions.

As you never went south of the river you wouldn't have been affected by the majority of the route anyway Gassing Station | Pedal Powered | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
