My aging 26er needs some new tyres - I'm not a high mileage rider and only have only used it a few times over the last couple of years so I'm not looking for anything spangly and great!

Wiggle has Schwalbe Black Jack tyres in 3 different widths. Reading one of their articles, it says front tyres are often wider at the front compared with the rear. To this end, should I put 2.25" on the front and 2.1" on the rear, go with both at 2.25" or both at 2.1"? My frame can take either so that's not an issue.

I'll be riding mainly cross country, (blue/red) bike parks and footpaths, nothing muddy, technical or overly adventurous - we go out mainly as a group of 10-12 blokes for 'sociable' riding (and a few pubs!).

I can't think of any advantage to choosing the narrower tyres for the type of riding you describe, so would go as wide as possible all round.
