Dunwich Dynamo 2018
Discussion
Agreed, last year was a cracking ride, perfect conditions.
I’m thinking about starting and finishing in Ipswich this year (about 360km loop) to avoid riding into Sunday and messing with my body clock more than absolutely necessary.
Caveat is that I’ve not done much this year so quite intimidated by the distance!

I wasn't going to do it, and said so on another thread, due to a torn miniscus.
Since then, I've managed to get back on the bike and put in a couple of 100 mile weeks, so with almost 2 more weeks to go, I should be able to get a bit more riding in and be able to do it.
It'll be my 7th on the trot, albeit a slow one.
There's 5 other non PH people doing it with me, including my 15 year old nephew. We'll be a bit slow for you Gruffy.
I'm doing it for the first time this year, looking forward to it.
Will be my first 100mile (+) ride, my attempt at 100miles a couple of weeks ago ended with my bike failing at 74 miles, think it is now ready to go again.
Then need to recover for the Ard Rock marathon the following week.

I'll be looking for someone to ride back to Ipswich with on sunday morning if that's helpful? I'm getting picked up at Copdock by Dunx Cycles on saturday afternoon to get into London. I'd love to do both ways as I'd absolutely love to crack 200 miles in a day, but sadly my fitness isn't quite up to it.
This will be my second year. 2017 was an absolute blast, with as you guys have mentioned, perfect riding conditions. Although it was a tad chilly in the early hours. But that might just be me not being fully prepared. This year will be arm warmers and a packable Gilet regardless of the forecast. Someone on here last year mentioned although the forecast wasn't due to dip lower than 16-17 degrees. It feels much colder without any sunlight. They weren't wrong!
Either way, I'm buzzing for next saturday and am planning on getting in 50 miles training tomorrow night.

If you can ride something close to 100 miles, you’ll have no issues with the dun run. It’s pretty flat and there are lots of people to ride with.
Anyone else fancy riding in from Ipswich??
Our group are heading there from Diss, but on the train with a van taking the bikes (I have no idea what time we are heading down, I should really find that out!)Anyone else fancy riding in from Ipswich??
Me and another (maybe more) may ride back to Diss afterwards...
Thanks for the suggestions, hoping to find someone or few people who are riding in from Ipswich.. is there a forum / site where groups coordinate?
Also good advice about clothing, I had a gilet and arm warmers last year but was still freezing when traversing the dunes; planning to take an extra layer this year.

My brother usually slows me up but this year it may well be me.
If anyone wants to meet up at the park and maybe head off together, I've done that with a few in here before. I don't have a PH jersey but will have a look ouit for them.
I usually get to the park at 7-730 and leave around 8. I've left nearer 9 befire though you feel like you're back of the pack when you do that.
Last year was warm, I'm fairly sure I didn't use my arm warmers at all. It might have out them on for the last 30kms, I can't remember.

My wife has decided to have her birthday party this weekend (it was really on the 3rd of July) but as it is actually close to my birthday on weds we have come to an agreement that I can also do the dynamo.
So after a night out dressed as a troll.... I am planning to meet up with the route at coddenham at around 2am and ride over to dunwich and back to Ipswich which should be a still respectable 70miles.
The question is do I stay dressed as a troll for the ride or get changed into my PH jersey?

The wind was torturous riding into London and as Gruffy mentioned not very helpful once I’d turned around. I sensibly bailed out a little after Sudbury on the way to Dunwich and headed back to Ipswich for a good night’s sleep...
With kinder weather conditions I’ll attempt the double again next year.

How about Weymouth and back from Fleet? Septemberish? With kinder weather conditions I’ll attempt the double again next year.
