Mavic Cosmic Pro Carbon SL-C Road Wheels 2017 braking surfac
Discussion
So i had my bike serviced before i go to France for some cycling & watch some of the tour next week.. Tech comes back saying the braking surface on the rear of the Mavic Cosmic Pro Carbon SL-C wheel. So its basically ruined. I need a quick replacement before i go to france and am wondering whats the better wheel for the money
Mavic Cosmic Pro Carbon SL-C Road Wheels 2017 for £792 from leisure lakes or Shimanos very own DuraAce C60 - for 700 in a 10% off sale. I hope i can get the wheel done under warranty, if not ill get a new rim fitted but for a tide me over is the mavic worth the extra 80 quid?
Or should i get the Shimano and go Shimano from now on? The Shimano is an unknown quantity to me..
The thing is i know the Mavic supports my mass (100 kg) quite well so i'm a bit hmmm' ahhh'ing about it all really !

and the pads had ripped up the braking surface?
how could you/the LBS tell they were u/s?
Not being picky just I have some COSMIC PRO CARBON EXALITH with funny wear on the rims and wondering if we have the same issue, but not sure if we're talking the same wheels.
Theres a area of the braking surface which is visibly moving from the actual carbon, they always made a weird crunching noise from new, i thought it was normal, so i didnt think there was anything to worry about - but maybe that was just poor adhesion from the get go? how could you/the LBS tell they were u/s?

Apparently beyond the 'wear line' the compound is different - harsher - - I run the Swissstop Flash Pro Brake Pads - yellow which are supposed to be correct for these rims, but upon last inspection i thought i had plenty of meat left on them - maybe i was a bit rash in my conclusion /careless.
