With nearly half a year gone, how many miles have you done so far?
I've barely seen my bike, never mind ridden it, but hoping to improve in the second half of 2018.

My numbers:
6 rides (yes, six!)
78.6 miles
7 hours 51 min
3127 feet elevation

I've also realised I seem to have become worse year-on-year:
2014: 1843 miles
2015: 896 miles
2016: 826 miles
2017: 500 miles
2018: 78 miles so far

How about you? smile

Currently on track to hit my 8000km target for the year. Just need to try and build up a bit of a buffer so I don’t have to push too hard later in the year when the weather is bad and it’s dark.

2016 - 1089 miles - 53 activities
2015 - 411 miles - 25 activities

Not quite as well as last year, but better than 2016.

2018 so far: 1046 miles in 44 rides

2017 total: 792 miles in 33 rides.

Happy with that (see cycling with family commitments thread :-) )

It’s better than some years, helped mostly by commuting by bike.
I’ve got a ride London place as well this year so doing a few more training rides as well.

I've mostly done commuting rides this year, but finally started doing some longer rides:

May:
24th - 20 miles
26th - 19.2 miles (Max speed 45.7 mph!)
29th - 15.75 miles
June:
2nd - 40.45 miles
12th - 50.03 miles
16th - 62.55 miles

So 208 miles, all done within the last month. Of course, I don't set MapMyRun going when I ride to the shops.

We had such a bad winter/spring but i've somehow managed to catch up and gain 350miles on this time last year. I think that's down to having a lot more free time to ride during the day.

Distance 2,544.8 mi
Time 137h 10m
Elev Gain 96,319 ft
Rides 102

Just started a new contract for a couple of months that has a 60 miles commute and the lease car is due to go back in the next couple of weeks so I think i could be in for a few weeks of pain doing full time bike commutes.

Over 500 miles in something in the 20-30 rides range. Nowhere near some, but happy enough given @ 85-90% is off-road, my knees are toast and is an evening/weekend only activity. Averaging over 100 miles a week at the moment, which is nice (if occasionally painful), as I didn't start until early May.

Goal 1 is 1000+ miles, which shouldn't be an issue now. Though probably cursed myself!

Real goal is TdF distance before I pack up for the miserable months, which I know I shouldn't do, but don't enjoy the wind/rain/cold combination.

Still trying to keep it ticking over as last year. Currently....

64 rides
1661km/1032mi
29637m/97234ft
Climbing is 1.784% of distance

Trying to keep climbing around 1.7-1.8% of distance. I hate climbing but use it as an indication of how hard I’m working.

Last year total was 3750 and about 63,000 and I’d be happy with repeating that, so roughly going to plan.

I'm down on last year, I try to make 5000 miles or 8000 km and am 258 km behind that pace. I got my daughter a job where I work so have lost the commuting miles, except maybe one day a week. I also had a crash, the resultant road rash meant I didn't feel like riding for a couple of weeks, plus a couple of long term mechanicals meant I have had to borrow a friend's road bike, which I don't take out on wet roads.
I think I am working myself harder on the rides I am doing though. I used to do a lot of climbing on the Downs and whilst it is a good way to get your climbing stats up, it's too easy to stick it in the granny ring and spin up the trails slowly. It's a good exercise to a point, but I felt I had to start working harder so am doing intervals on the road bike (a higher average speed also means the distance is further for a given time) and starting to feel the benefits of that.
I still want to hit 5000 miles but recognise I need to be way ahead of target by the end of September if I am going to make it.

Pathetic compared to previous years. The pressures of two young children.

Pleased with the running however

How are you generating those pretty graphs? Is it a Strava Premium thing?

http://stravini.com

It's a plugin for Strava, puts things in chronological order and lets you do other stuff, like the graphs.

Fair point, and made me check my progress. Compared to the whole of 2017, 2018 YTD has near identical average speed and distance for all rides, but climbing has increased from 1.64% to 1.78% so I’m counting that as working harder!

And that’s enough over-analysis for one year...
