I am liking Velon more and more as an insight into races
e.g. the last 1km for Elia Viviani in the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race
https://twitter.com/VelonCC/status/109025574625056...
with some stats pulled out here too

7.29 W/kg for 2'38" on the final climb of Challambra coming after 6.28 W/kg for 3'00 on that climb on the third lap

To this day they have not released anything interesting, which I get, but the above stats are not that interesting IMO.
Nor are they remarkable in isolation, they COULD release some really interesting stuff, but they don't, they churn out garbage.

Their power for durations of key time trials, solo breaks, final 30 second power on uphill finishes etc.
6 w/kg for 3 minutes in isolation is club racer numbers. Obviously the pros are doing silly numbers but we never get to see the good stuff imo. The valverde number is so far from what he is capable of for example.
Except he did 6.8 W/kg average over 5’28”
Nearly 15% more power than you cite for over 90% longer than the time period you cite
And you can see the live data feed of speed, power, cadence and heart rate for the entire race for 104 riders in the Omloop today

Now that might not include the riders you particularly want to look at, but, short of an api to enable detailed retrospective analysis and publication, I reckon that’s a pretty generous insight for free
I don’t know of any other human powered sport that shares so much

How about this?
Again, whilst you might prefer to see a different rider and it is missing heart rate, it's not a bad insight: rolling data from Caleb Ewan in the last minute or so of Stage 4 of the UAE Tour. There is about 20 seconds or so in there of up to 20 W/kg to give an average (my guess) well over 17 in the gallop

That number from VV is not really telling us much, he is capable of hugely more, and those are the numbers they never share. Hell I've done not far off that number before and I'm a club racer at best. The ewan stuff is interesting, but would like to have seen the actual 30 sec/1 min averages etc. They have all this but won't share too much as they know other teams would love to see the full stuff.
