Anyone else been paying attention to the run up to this?

Will Gwin keep his form going?
Can Aussies Hannah, Brosnan or Fearon take it? Or could Hill cause an upset on his enduro bike?!

Timed session results are in and it's Hannah going quickest, but with the World Cups, several key players hold their cards close to their chests!

Finals start online at 4ish Sunday morning.

Rachel Atherton crashed and broke her collarbone in timed practice, so can't defend her jersey. Not a great start to the weekend, but does make the women's final interesting and open. Nicole? Seagrave? Hannah?

Rachel's had a st season after her perfect one last year - it's a shame, particularly for the other women as without Rachel it's a very different field.

Gwin needs to get the world champs monkey off his back and he's riding well at the moment - I think it will be between him and Minaar, but would love to see Danny take his 3rd World Champs

Sam Hill is riding the course on his Enduro bike - which frankly just smacks of marketing on Nukeproof's part to me. Its nowhere near as gnarly as many WC DH courses - but I don't see him winning on a trail bike.

He's openly said, he has a DH bike there, but the only time he's ridden it was the only time he's raced DH on the last 12 months, which was Fort William - he's been on his Mega all year & feels more comfortable on it.

As much as I want him to win, i'd be surprised if he did, given it's no longer his focus. I can however see him being uncomfortably close, which would be fun.

If anyone is going to upset the apple cart, it could well be him. Might be a fitting tribute to the end of his DH career - he's a monster on the pedals now.
