Obsession with cycling - Italy

Just came back from short holiday in Italy and the number of cyclist on the stretch Como-Argegno-Mennagio was absolutely ridiculous. All ages, full on gear, cycling on stupidly narrow roads on that stretch. We regularly go to Italy but don't remember ever seeing that many cyclists

Given that I was driving stty 500L rental-special-diesel at the time they most certainly did. :|
