New wheels for Boardman hybrid?

Hi Everyone,

I have buckled the back wheel on my Boardman Hybrid Comp 2014.
It is a second bike to my road bike, but I would like to take the opportunity to perhaps get a little more speed out of it.

The problem is, it has disc brakes and sram groupset and I am a bit of a noob at this kind of thing. My roadbike is a bit simpler wit Shimano groupset and standard wheels.

Does anyone have any suggestions on wheels that will fit, without changing everything else?
Would prefer to avoid going back to Halfords.

SRAM and disc brakes you say?

Maybe something from the Zipp range might suit

Is it a trick of the light or is the front wheel deeper than the rear?! That looks bloody hideous.

OP - Shimano and SRAM cassettes are the same fitment so (assuming your hybrid is also 700c which I expect it is) you just need a Shimano/SRAM compatible, disc braked wheelset. There will be hundreds on Wiggle/Evans/CRC starting from £150 and going up to several thousand, so take your pick.

Don't be too quick to write off your current wheelset though, a bike shop should be able to straighten the wheels out for you for minimal expenditure.

If the rim got bent before the rest of the wheel got worn out then get the existing wheel rebuild with a new rim.

A modest MTB XC 29er or cyclocross rim starts at about £30 and a new set of nipples for a couple of quid. Not sure what a shop would charge to swap though. It's an easy job once you've taped the new and old rims together and move one spoke at a time across.

Otherwise things like Aksium one disc set would suit...

I've got a set of Kysyriums that you can have for £180? They are next up from aksiums. I had them on my boardman cx comp but I sold it in January and bought a giant defy. I've got no use for them as my new bike is 12mm thru axle.
The Kysyriums are 15mm thru in front with a QR adaptor fitted and QR rears. Great wheels, just bought too early!

I will take my wheels in to be fixed, tbh I assumed they were cheap ones and not worth fixing, but a spare set of wheels is always handy.

If you don't want to sell them, you can get a Mavic 15 to 12mm adaptor from bike24.de...
