New Ultegra Di2 groupset launched
Discussion
Hi All,
Looking for some advice please.
I was about to buy a Merida Scultura Disc 7000e - which comes with Ultegra Di2, and the Ultegra level disc brakes (although not Ultegra series approved). Then I saw a story on road.cc yesterday on the launch of the new Utegra di2 disc groupset (8000 series), and the fancy new features such as fully automated shifting, extra buttons etc which have trickled down from the new Dura Ace di2.
the story suggests that the new groupset will be available from July, so my question is: when will bike manufacturers launch the new season bikes, presumably with the new group set on?
What I don't want to do is pick up my new Scultura at the beginning of July and find the updated version is available at the beginning of August. My other option was the Giant TCR Advanced Pro Disc, so would be interested to know when they launch new season bikes too?
Anybody have any info?
Thanks

I noticed the other day that Evans have reduced a lot of 2017 BMCs. So expect new versions in the next 6 weeks. Especially since their range hasn't been updated for a few years.
As a rule, the newer bikes are launched near to the Tour.
Although some Tri specific bikes like Cervelo P5x were launched prior to Kona in October

I would have thought the 2018 model year bikes will be the ones that have the new Ultegra 8000 series. Which as mentioned above tend to start to land about September.
Places that build to spec, rather than ship in bulk may have them on their range sooner, or you could go frame only and build up yourself / have a bike shop do it.
(For example, Planet X seem to ship frames to Sheffield, and then build them up when an order comes in. Giant probably have theirs built in Taiwan, so the 2017 bikes will be here, built, in a box somewhere.)
Not sure about Merida, specifically.
