Show me your ceiling or wall mount solutions in garage

Going to be moving into a house soon which has a fairly small integral garage so whilst I would like my bikes (currently have 4) stored in there, I would prefer if they didn't limit the usable floor space too much. Anyone got recommendations of storage solutions that are available on the market or can be made fairly simply? Thanks in advance

Can initially be a bit tricky getting the order and orientation of the bikes right, but we have the mountain bikes front wheels up (to keep the hydraulics and forks OK) on the outer two high hooks, then the road bikes on the low hooks, front wheel down. Then our little ones mountain bike in the middle.

And a f'ing big chain through the lot to a wall anchor.

No pics, just used some large hooks screwed into the ceiling joists, from Screwfix, just go on their site and search Smith & Locke hook. Rubber coated so ideal for bike hanging and at £1.99 each you cant go wrong.

Plastic coated hooks from Halfords - think they were about 4 quid each.




Not entirely convinced they represent the most space efficient storage but they make access to each bike easy.

These are very good , you can adjust the heights of the arms to fit your bike , found on wiggle £35

Thanks for the ideas and photos so far. Some innovative solutions that I wasn't aware existed. Quite like the idea of having them the right way up against the wall, seems most space efficient.

I have mine on the drop down hook brackets that Halfords sell for about £15 flat against the wall as last pic. This way takes up much less room than the vertical method I reckon.
I did look at the funky cyloc ones but figured for 3 of them it was an unnecessary expense(tight wad)

Hav a mixture of hooks in the trusses to hook saddles onto, hooks on the wall to put front wheel in (think I will stop using this one, doesn't feel right) and a bar to hook the saddle nose over

Keep it simple. Two plastic coated hooks, one under the bars one under the seat.

Large single hook on each roof truss and hang them up by the wheel

If you don't want to or can't wall mount them vertically, you could stagger them to the side like I've done using these. The advantage is the kids can just wheel them out (and more importantly wheel them back in again!) which they can't do if they're vertical.

I use a Clug Roadie Mount. Clever piece of kit. Really good if space is tight.....

I considered doing this in my garage, but concluded that they would take up significantly more space than just leaning the 3 bikes against each other against the wall. To start saving space I would need a stand like this



But that wouldn't work at the moment, as the bike ares under the garage door. Its lucky I only ride one bike regularly.

The advantage is that you can get to each bike independently of the others. And I think once you get to 5+ bikes along one wall, possibly hanging them from alternating front wheel/rear wheel, you may start to see genuine space saving.

But with the 4 bikes I have there's no space saving and the kids can't get their own bikes down.

Once I'd screwed the hangers up there I decided we'd use them but I wouldn't​ recommend them without further consideration.
