Wide-Toe box road shoes

Hey folks

With my new bike I'm getting SPD SL clips so looking to get a new pair of shoes. I use a pair of more MTB oriented SPD clips on my hybrid but the shoes basically make my feet go numb after as little as 45 minutes cycling. I discovered when being fitted for mountain boots earlier this year that my feet actually are a bit wide (and high) at the toe-box so am looking to find a more comfortable pair as I suspect this is contributing to the numbness.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Looking for road shoes, budget around £90-100 if that helps. Going to be trying on some this coming weekend but if there are any brands that are known to be slightly more forgiving in this aspect I'd appreciate guidance

Sidi mega work for my wide feet. They're expensive but can be found discounted on Merlin, Sidi cafe and other places - I paid about £110 for mine.

When buying my latest pair of cycling shoes i ordered c10 different pairs of shoes from chain reaction (different styles and sizes), tried them all on then returned the ones i didn't want with no issues.

I've got wide feet and find Specialized and Northwave both good for me.

I've fairly wide feet, I've found my B'Twin 900s are a decent fit for me.

Under budget too.

Thanks folks, I had looked at the Northwaves but dismissed them visually as they looked a little "flat"

I'm going to go and irritate a shop assistant this weekend, part of me wonders if I may end up with a pair of MTB style shoes after all as they seem to have a bit more height to them

I too am blessed with wide feet. I bought loads of Wiggle and then sent back the ones which didn't fit. I ended up with Bont ones which are heat moldable but never actually needed to mould them. They are very comfortable and fit like a glove.

I have complete hobbit feet. Not only wide, but very square on the toes as well, so they stay wide almost to the end of the shoe.

Lake work well for me.

I have a pair of Northwave Sonic 2 Carbons and I'm not finding them wide enough for me, they blister my little toe every ride which is a huge annoyance.

No one seems to be recommending Fizik? I thought they were supposed to be wide foot compatible? I was going to get some....

Specialized for me, but also have Shimano shoes which are good for wide toe box too.

I have some Giro High Volume which are about £100. I've heard good things about Lake but not tried any. This is where you need a shop with stock to try them on - mail order equals returns.
Point on the Girls - think I got 45s but normally I would be 43s - like all clothing in that not all size up the same.

Surprise surprise because they weren't the right shape for your feet? A bit like a 5ft bloke buying a 63 inch frame and saying "the most uncomfortable bike I've ever ridden". Shoes are like saddles in that regard.

Never had a problem with any other shoes so not sure that comment is relevant. Just my opinion anyway

FWIW after trying most of the shoes in the shop on (very patient assistant at 4pm on a Friday afternoon)! I finally went for a pair not mentioned here but just felt right, I think mainly due to the softer leather and Boa fastening.

Little more expensive than I'd planned at £120 but they just seemed to work straight away and I figured it's better to spend a bit more on getting it right here. Did the first ride in them today and literally no issues at all, really comfy both to walk in and ride on. They seem to size slightly small so went with a 43 instead of my normal 42.
