Canondale Supersix EVO Hi Mod Disc Ultegra D12 (2017)

Having done all the research (and subject to my bike fitter checking the stats) I have pretty much my heart set on buying one of these and relegating my Boardman Road Team Carbon to a winter bike but before I pull the trigger anyone got one, and views, any idea if I could get any deals off the £4,699.99 retail price. Is it worth hanging out until September to see if they do any run out deals on them? I know I can get 10% off with British Cycling from various outlets but any other angles?

I got my hi-mod synapse in September and was £800 off, so probably worth waiting until then.

It depends if you are prepared to wait 'til the 2018 bikes start to appear. There's usually good discounts to be had on Cannondales. I've had 2 Supersix HM's. They really are an amazing frameset. My latest one is the Team Edition, Dura Ace Di2, carbon trinkets everywhere & the SLSI2 crank. It's finished in a fantastic silver paint scheme & looks bloody amazing. The rrp on these was £7499, I got mine for £5000. Still a lot of dough but I sold the other Supersix for a decent price.

so my bike fitter says the SuperSix is too aggressive for me and it looks more like I need Giant Defy / Trek Domane or maybe a Synapse which have more relaxed / endurance geometry.

REALLY like the look of this (budget creep / man maths / like the colour) but can't see any 2017 stock anywhere - is it special order for the Team Replicas or will they have sold out already?

If traditional geometry is "too aggressive," consider a hybrid.

'Race' geometry is considered too aggressive (ruling the SuperSix out) but 'Endurance' type road bike should be fine apparently.

I need a top tube of around 55/57 cm and head tube of around 17 - 20cm. I think that rules the lovely Canyon out on head tube length which is quite short (less than 16cm on a medium) giving me too much of a head down position thus putting more load on hamstrings which are already tight although I am working on them with stretches etc.

I am Mountain Bike shopping at the moment and a few retailers are already discounting the asking price by 15%...so worth asking about 'deals'.

Giant Defy won't disappoint, I bought an Advanced SL 1 in the Black Friday sale from Pedalon. This was a result of a Bike Fit as well, very comfortable!!

I've got that exact bike - last years model so has different wheels, a bit more aero this year. Was the perfect bike for me - discs, Di2, 28mm and nothing other than saddle needed changing. Great position - a bit more aggressive than the Defy I had but still good for my ageing back.

Pricing isn't as good as last year though. Maybe it's those fancy carbon wheels?

Head tube measurement is meaningless - fork could be taller/shorter. Look at the stack for a better indication of fit. That said, as I mentioned, the Endurace is a little more sporty fit than most Endurance/Sportive bikes.

Many thanks indeed RS4 - I pressed the button on one of those this afternoon. I had been scouring the web for a discount off the list price of £6K so that deal at £4.5K is fantastic! Not sure how I missed it (maybe it is very recent?). The missus still went mental about how "she could buy a small car for that" etc etc etc :-O I said it was such a bargain I had to buy it (same line she rolls out about January sales, handbags, shoes .... checkmate).

Be aware the geometry on the link they have with the bike is not right (at least it wasn't this afternoon and they were going to change it). It looks more like the SuperSix geometry they have listed.

So, picked up the Synapse Hi Mod Team 2017 from Tri-UK ... first impressions ...


OOOOh Errrrrrr what a bit of kit. I had a bike fit yesterday so not ridden it yet other than on the rollers, should do this weekend.

But in the meantime I just want to look at it. in fact, even LICK it a bit. It is just sooooo nice. Undoubtedly too good for my meagre abilities but hey we all deserve a little treat now and then, life is too short.

Tri-UK great service also.

Will feed back after first proper ride.

To clarify, did Tri UK do the fit, or was it your local guy?

If it was Tri UK then I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion. I bought my Propel from them when I was a relative noob and they totally screwed the fit up - slammed my saddle all the way back which left me way too stretched out and in totally the wrong position for optimum power output. Had really bad back pain on long rides as well as hamstring pain during shorter, intense efforts.

When I went to someone who knew what they were doing they completely changed the Tri UK fit which solved all of my problems and I gained circa 10% power. They honestly put me in the worst possible position and it completely screwed my training up for longer than I care to admit!
