Anybody any experience of Cipollini?

Specifically the Bond. I'm after a new road bike and rather than going for another bianchi, i fancied something different. The bond looks pretty trick and theres a shop local to me that sells them (going for a fitting at weekend). Has anybody any personal experience of them & how they ride, reviews online seem pretty decent but thought itd be good to get someone whos not working for a mag's view !

The Bond was high on my list of the next bike although I bought a Bianchi Infinito CV last Friday specc'ed up to the max with Campagnolo Super Record and Bora Ultra 50's
I believe the Bond is extremely stiff with race geometry so maybe not ideal for 3 -4 hours excursions around country lanes unless you're used to that sort of bike?

The Camo paintjob with neon Livery looks the bks though!

Yeah, it does look the dogs doesnt it , not sure its worth the extra 400 notes though. My bianchi 928 c tech was quite stiff and a fairly racey position. I've read good things about the infinito - its more racey than c2c geometry even though marketed as c2c, right? Have you noticed the cv does take the edge of the rough stuff ?

I was toying with an oltre but i struggle to find one with the right spec for the right money, so looked at the bond as a 'build it myself' kinda affair..

All I know is there are some fit female riders in the Ale'-Cipollini race team.

I believe it's between the c2c and XR4/Specialissima race geometry. I was ready to buy the Specialissima but my body shape really wasn't right and the guy doing my bike fit was getting more and more unhappy as we tried to get the setup right with the frame size (in essence I needed a 59 frame for my legs and 55 for my top half) - i'm 5'10" with the legs of someone who is 6' and the torso of someone 5'8" basically

The endurance geometry of the infinito was bang on for me and very close to the Giant Defy it's replacing it turned out. It's a 5 week wait for it now and it's not got a spot of Celeste on it either.

I thought celeste was the ONLY colour to buy a bianchi in? Saying that my 928 was white and the oltre looks good in black!

Ah, just went and sat on a bond, lovely bike, nice position. It felt light, well a lot lighter than my old Bianchi. But then he went and told me that his s5 is the fastest bikes he's ridden, which has got me thinking, do i get a fancy smart bike or a fancy bike thats not quite as good looking thats even faster... I'm not going to get too many kom's but i know how much difference aero makes over standard bikes... Hmm. Am going to test ride them both next week .

Aero makes cock all difference, Sagan kicked everyone's ass on a Cannondale SuperSix....

The Cipo looks awesome, get a proper retul fit and it should be fine, albeit a little stiff and unforgiving

Having ridden both didn't see much between S5 and Bond in comfort stakes, both great bikes. Never noticed the aero difference but I probably don't go fast enough

Snap. I have the exact same problem and ended up with a Infinito CV as it was by far the best of the endurance geometry bikes I rode. Picked it up yesterday

I think ill be getting Ultegra di2 - had a quick demo of it and whilst rear shifting isnt massively improved the way the front auto adjusts its pretty amazing .

Well I've had it since Saturday - a loan Bond and I have to say I'm blown away with it - absolutely love it. Not uncomfortable or as racey as id thought in terms of position, quite comfortable with a wafer thin selle san marco saddle. It absolutely stonks with surprising immediacy when standing out of the saddle, i thought my old carbon frame was stiff but this is a totally different beast. The steering is very twitchy but soon got used to this whilst descending into the Cheddar gorge .

I even crushed my Cheddar Gorge pb ascent time by 4 minutes.

The only downside was the wafer thing Challenge tires fitted that I flatted twice on and the DI2 that decided to keep dropping into a higher gear whilst doing the climb - does Di2 detect speed and change when you hit a certain rpm?! So not really the Cipo's fault.

I think my build will be Ultegra mech with disk , some nice carbon wheels, and I think that'll do the job.

Sounds like a fault. Mine did that when I bent the rear mech hanger, wouldn't stay on the largest cog of the cassette for very long.

Limit screws not set correctly. If it thinks there isn't enough movement to be in the top gear, it will allow you to go into it for a while then drop back.
