Secure garden storage - with a twist...

For reasons too boring to go into, I'm really struggling to find a solution that works for my need to store two bikes in my back garden. I'm not the kind of guy who keeps a bike in the house, and the ceilings aren't quite high enough to justify wall mounting.

The non-negotiable issues, as I see them:

• My garden is small/oddly-configured (multiple levels), this means the bikes need to be hung. Plenty of wallspace means this not an issue.
• The bikes are expensive, meaning it will need to be secure enough to stop the opportunist (without going Fort Knox OTT).
• This is London, so it also needs to be able to keep the bike safe from rain/frost.

The original idea was to put a couple of hooks on the wall (for the front rim) and loops to run a D-Lock through. However, this isn't really compatible with the waterproof bike bags I've bought. Making holes in the bags for the appropriate connections feels faffy, and would probably mean they filled with water whenever it rained.

Anyone have any thoughts, or come across a similar issue? With a better laid-out garden I'd simply chuck in a shed or storage box, but this just isn't possible without major work (and the bikes aren't THAT expensive/precious).

Any abandoned Nazi bunkers in your garden?

Do you have room to knock together a simple shed out studwork and cladding? Line the inside with thick OSB/Ply and build it well enough and it should deter most.

Looking at your post, depends how your DIY skills are? Think along the lines of a bus shelter, as it appears shed is not an option.

A few strips of outdoor cls timber, make two longer rectangles for the sides, a smaller one for the roof, cover with feather edge. Even if your no good with a saw, you could have b&q or a wood merchant cut it to length, just bang it together with outdoor nails. A few brackets to attach it to the wall. Add your bike brackets on wall, can use the plastic bags as mostly waterproof now. Job done.
