very sad, suicide is the single biggest killer of men aged under 45 in the UK. There is always help available but people need to know its out there

Utterly shocking news to wake up to this morning, having ridden BMX for the last 30 years I've grown up watching Dave's riding, then his progression to Rallycross and Ironman events, who'd have guessed the demons he was battling.
Sad day for the BMX community and the wife and 2 daughters he leaves behind with nothing but questions, hope he's now at peace.

Sad news indeed. I met Mirra a few times back in my BMX days, and he was always a very positive guy.
Life takes some funny turns occasionally, and it's such a shame it ended this way

Just woken up and this was the first thing I've seen on FB.

Genuinely gutted. He always seemed like such a good guy, BMX legend, proud father and triathlete. I've enjoyed following him and watching the effort and enthusiasm he put into everything he did.

Genuinely, properly sad news. Inspirational guy, and always came across as a bloody nice chap.

Unfortunately, that's what it does to you - you spend all your energy making sure the people around you are OK, and convincing everyone you're 'normal', while you fall apart on the inside.

I can't either. But then I don't suffer mental illness so can never understand.

Such an awesome rider and inspiration to so many yet so humble.
