I have disc brakes on my road bike which is used as my second bike is about 15 months old and I have done around 1300m on it.

They still perform really well but make a horrible noise when used.

Are there any guidelines on servicing / checking them? I like to do my own servicing so happy to get my hands dirty.

I'd certainly check the pads to ensure they have worn down to the metal. Aside from pad replacement as and when worn out there isn't a lot needs doing with them.

Fresh pads when you need them and maybe a clean of the rotor every now and again. I use isopropyl alcohol - dirt cheap.
