Cyclocross Tyres
Discussion
Bike came fitted with Rapid Rob tyres. Have worn the back one out several times, so now its time to change to a different tyre.
Found the Rapid Robs quite draggy, and wear quickly.
Want something that is good on the road, but equally good on fire-tracks. And puncture resistant. f
king sick of cross punctures.

Swapped them for Vittoria ?????? cant rememeber what they were, really grippy but wore out very quickly. The new ones had their cherry popped on the South Downs Way and were great on and off road. I did puncture but were snake bites. My mate runs them and swears by them. (Ill double check what they are when I get home)

So not a CX tyre, but a road biased tyre you can put on your wide clearance CX/adventure bike that will also go off road, do gravel, roll well, last well and not puncture, yes?
Firstly, to deal with the punctures you must go tubeless. It's a piece of piss with Stans. Otherwise either suffer punctures or suffer heavy dead feeling kevlar belted tyres.
I use Compass Barlow Pass Extralight 38c, tubeless at 40 & 48psi, 330g iirc.
They are outstanding, look 'em up.
From South Downs Way to Ride London @ 34.9 kph avg. and lots of comfortable long rides, forest, gravel and potholed tarmac in between. On my 22mm internal width rims (OE, not tubeless ready) they caliper up to exactly 38mm. SKS Touring 45mm guards are a perfect pairing.
I don't spend a lot on bikes or kit, but the pair I bought are just about the best £100 I've spent. They are sublime and will last well too.

These should cover your needs for both road and light track, puncture resistance is high, you lose a bit of feel though.

Or Schwalbe Landcruisers, it's what we use on the Three Peaks Cyclocross. Weight a tonne, draggy, not very grippy, but indestructable.http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Schwalbe-Marathon-Plus-700...
Nuclear war survivors will be cockroaches and Landcruisers.

But when you get to CX sizes they weight nearly half a kilo each! http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Schwalbe-Marathon-Plus-700...

Sammy Slicks - great tyre. I've done some 'serious' off roading on these and was surprised at how much traction I got, good on the road too, and cheap to boot.

The CX version of the Sammy Slick looks somewhat lighter http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/schwalbe-sammy-...
