....I have been building up to this one for a long time, forget cat 4 to 1 - I have managed to train my PtW from 4.2 to 5.85, I have put in hours of painful disciplined training, I have followed a strict TdF diet to ensure that I am in tip-top condition, I have endured hours of hitting my arse with a cricket bat to condition it for what is to come, plunging my wrists into ice-cold water to ensure they are used to being numb for hours on end.........yes people, it is that time of year! The New Forest Pedal Car GP takes place this Sunday at New Milton - be there or be square.

Sadly due to an ongoing battle between the BBC and Sky it won't be televised, so the only way to see the action and become enveloped in the Le Mans-esq atmosphere is to drag your sorry carcass down to New Milton and cheer on the skinny, and somewhat battered looking bloke in the Pistonheads cycling jersey! I have cajoled a naive gold Olympian and holder of a few stripey jerseys into racing with me (actually it's the other way around, but symantec's are not important), so if you want to annoy Darren Kenny ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darren_Kenny ) or cheer on a mediocre bloke in a PH jersey while noshing on BBQ food and drinking beer I will see you there!!!

Thanks, sounds like a big field this year - last year there were circa 25 teams, apparently this year there has been 47 entries!!

This looks ace!

Have a blast buddy. PH expects a podium place as a minimum.

Well, that was fairly brutal!

As requested by the PH massive we finished on the podium in 2nd place (out of 48), not too bad considering there were only 3 of us and all of the other teams had 4 or 5!

In true PH styleeeee I managed quite a few skid-steers around the hairpins, lots of very late braking to pass the other cars going into corners - all was going so well until my enthusiasm outstripped my skill and I turned the car over - which really, really hurt!

Pre-race fettling, the car was built in 1995 and weighs in about 50kgs;

Darren Kenny getting into 'the Zone' pre-race.....

My arse complete with gravel having come into contact with the road after flipping the car over

The much coveted 2nd place trophy, genuine cheap plastic on a resin base - a thing of beauty!

smile I wanted to turn the number upside down but Darren wouldn't let me! Apparently he won 3 of his golds with the number 13 on his back the right way up - so wasn't having any of 'the rules'!!
