Not sure how secure it would be over most UK roads but I like the fact that it means you could have differenct shape bottles on a bike and not worry about whether it would fit in the cage...

There was another cage-less system a while back, using magnets, I think. I seldom see it on sale anywhere, neither in shops nor online.
I've currently got no problems with either the weight, reliability, or convenience of a bottle in a bottle cage. For me, this is a solution looking for a problem, and not appealing in the slightest. Maybe when such things become more commonplace, and these (hinted at) radically different bottle forms are created to take advantage of the cage-free fastening system, then I'll consider changing my mind. For now, though - "ahhhhm oot!"

Interesting idea but why doesn't the bottle have more than 1 row of V's? so that you don't have to have it lined up 1 specific way. Also with it not having to sit in a cage why have they also gone for a traditional bottle shape and not tried to come up with something better (may their isn't anything better)
TBH for cyclists I'd have thought a bladder that sits in the lower back pocket of a t-shirt with a pipe sewn into the t-shirt would be a far far better solution.

With the regular cage you are limited to a certain diameter of bottle and any smaller than 550ml and they are a bit of a pain to get in and out whilst in a group, plus they spoli the asthetics of a nice frame 
As you say if they had a few different size, shape bottles to go with the concept it might get more attention. Personally if they could fit those brackets to my thermal screw top coffee cup it would be perfect for the morning commute....

Now you're talking!Having thought about it, those new bottles are an interesting idea. I can see aero shaped bottles catching on with those with aero frames, for example.
Not sold on it, firstly I could see them jumping out of the holders on the shi77y conditions in the UK, if they are tight enough to not jump out then they will probably require quite a bit of force to remove them when pedaling along. Secondly, as has been said already I don't want to be faffing around trying to re-locate the biddon in two small spots while scooting along in a group....

Good point about the slots. Current bottle cage I only have to line up one thing (bottom of bottle / top of cage) and it slots in. With one of these you need both slots lined up which means getting the same angle as your down tube, distance down the down tube, vertical alignment so you don't get one in but not the other, and rotational alignment so it doesn't twist out when you push it in. Sounds like a faff, that or I am overthinking it.Having to line up slots is not what you want at 40mph in a peloton.

I'm sure they assumed no one would be taking a drink in a peloton at 40mph. Having to line up slots is not what you want at 40mph in a peloton.
I don't think they'll work personally, too much faff lining up and I question how well they'll stay put and not rattle.
