Recommendations for road bike route through Peak District

Hi, thinking about taking my road bike up to the Peak District this weekend for a 2 or 3 hour ride but not having been up that way before wondered if any of you knowledgeable lot had any recommendations for a possible route?

Will be setting off from (and will need to get back to) the south of the Peaks, somewhere around Ashbourne.

Thought I'd let you know how I got on.

Parked up in Ashbourne (lovely town) and headed north towards Buxton.
Great undulating roads which testing my climbing ability.

Came across loads of vintage cyclist's who were comepting in races which were part of the Eroica Brittania weekend.
Very cool to see so many riders on vintage bikes and dressed in period clothing.

Surprised no one replied too.

I'm not far from Ashbourne at all. Had often in the past strapped the bike to the roof of the car and done multiple laps of Carsington Water. I live a bit further south (Cheadle) and usually the furthest I get into the peaks would be around the Leek/Ipstones sort of area. Really should venture further north more often.
