What size wheels? I find the tight sections harder on a 29er than 26" but then that's to be expected.

Get your basics before worrying about kit.

Look where you want to go.

slow in and maintain speed then build up.

Use your weight to steer and bend your elbows

Counter steer before the corner puts your weight into the corner.

If you just approach and turn your weight goes outside the corner.

Keep the wheels loaded equally, weight = grip, load one more than another and that has less grip!

Biggest point in where are you looking? You need to be looking down the trail not a few meters in front of your wheel. It the trail switches back left then you need to be looking over your left shoulder at where you want to be. It takes a while getting used to it but where the eyes look the bike will tend to follow.

Also make sure you are riding "loose" don't just steer with the bars. Use your whole body and lean the bike.
