I'm sure this has been done to death on here, but the search isn't turning anything up of use.

Live in a rented property so just looking for a contents policy to cover my bikes. Bespoke bike policies seem pretty absurd price wise.

Anyone got any first hand reccomendations that will provide cover for a reasonable price?

How much are your bikes worth? A number of sub-£1k bikes is a different proposition to a shed full of top end Pinarello stuff.

3 bikes, probably totalling just under £10k.

Although I'm mortgaged rather than rented, I found exactly the same as you... The price of bike specific policies is just insane!

As a family, we've got eight bikes with a replacement value of £9,100. They're all covered on our home insurance, which also includes public liability insurance.

I just ran a couple of quotes for cycle specific insurance, and they want £619.37. That's only about £40 less than I'm paying for my entire Buildings & Contents cover!!!! yikes

I suppose it might be worthwhile if you're in rented accommodation and the only thing you have which is of any value at all is your bike, but other than that, how can anyone ever think specific bike insurance is a cost worth paying?

I can't remember who we are insured with, but both of my bikes are named on the policy as separate items with a total replacement value of £3k between them. Think we paid something like £80 extra to have them as named items.

Obviously, if you have £10k's worth, then yes expect to pay a lot more! I might hit £5ks worth in ayear's time, but not much more than that! My bikes will be worth more than my Land Rover!

I have lots of bikes and have just renewed policies and the best I found was more than as they will cover any number of bikes up to a max value of £1500 each in the house and when out and about. total policy cost home+contence was £188 and the bike part was about £70 of that. you must live in a seriously nice house or a very dodgy area to be paying over £600 for home and contence.
