This year I have decided to focus a bit more on quality rather than just quantity of riding, and at the moment am very much focused on building strength over a reasonably decent endurance base. I am following a structured training plan which currently requires quite a lot of time on the turbo trainer - to make things as easy as possible I have programmed all of my workouts into my Edge 500 - means I don't have to think and can just follow the on screen instructions about how much I should be hurting myself.

Question is, does anyone know how I can upload the workouts from the Edge to Garmin Connect? As far as I can tell the system only seems to be setup to send workouts from Garmin Connect to the Edge not the other way around, however I was hoping with the collective brainpower of the P/H Cycling massive someone might know a workaround!

Over to you.........

No idea about uploading but downloading workouts from Garmin connect can be a pain in the mule...

It involves:
1 Clicking the "Download" button and getting your garmin to sync via "Garmin Express".
2 Disconnect your Garmin and power it on
3 Verify the workout is actually on the device. Sometimes the file will not be there...

Note:
The API always defaults the workout type to a "Run"
Unfortunately the Garmin 500 doesn't like "Run" workouts and silently bins the file.
If you download a workout and it doesn't appear on your device make sure that you have set the workout type to ride..

This was not obvious and I only found out about this "feature" after creating workouts getting on my bike, warming up for a couple of miles then selecting "do-workout" only to find it didn't exist.

The user API is also very "clunky" and frustrating to use.
