I Phone and Strava Abroad

I'm off to Tenerife in a few weeks,Will I be fine recording my rides on strava on my phone, with the Data Roaming off,or do I need it on?
The idea was to up load the ride at the hotel using their WiFi so no data roaming cost.

The app doesn't use the web while you're recording, only when you upload. Turn off data roaming if you're still unsure.

You will be fine with 3/4G off.

Dont do that, it'll also disable your GPS.

I had plenty of battery on my 5s on Monday to get up and down (thats all i did mind) I was mega slow going up. Downhill was fun. Be careful of the silly euro brake setup.

I'd question the elevation accuracy of the iPhone when using it abroad after my rides down the Amalfi coast last year. Two rides down roughly the same area of coastline reported elevation of 22,000ft - 24,000ft over 60 off mile rides. In reality the rides were more like 8,000ft per ride.

I think the elevation figure for smart phone tracks are calculated using map data. I dont think there is a barometer on iphones. Did the elevation not get corrected a short while after you uploaded it?

Nope! And you can't use the 'correct elevation' function post ride like a Garmin. https://www.strava.com/activities/189747048
