Where to sell my bike?

I have a really nice folding bike I love, but need to sell and I don’t want to give it away for nothing on ebay. I could put a starting price but don’t want to incur fees if it doesn’t sell in the end either. I am also tired of being asked to send overseas, what is my buy it now price. (especially when I state all this in my listing anyway). I

Are there any websites people could recommend that get good visibility and preferably not too many time-wasters? I have used Pistonheads and also other sites in the past but generally responses are pretty lame or non-existent. I am reasonably certain ebay is my best and only option but am hoping someone can point me in another direction.

If you can, I'd wait until the weather heats up before selling it.

In the meantime, you could try putting up a decent ad, with photos, on gumtree as this is free and has a decent audience, although possibly a fair amount of time wasters

There are regular 'offers' on Ebay where to list an item is free (as long as you don't do both auction and BIN). I only ever list when these offers are on. Yes, there are final fees (if it sells) but the exposure is superb - I've found that local people tend to still find the item as well.

You could try the Buy & Sell Cyclist group on Facebook (if you are on it) or the classifeds section on Bikeradar.

If it's a Brompton then best price is likely on EBay. I sold my old one there for 700+ which was more than I paid for it...
Set the price you want as buy it now (50 fees?, bump up your price to cover that)
Use setting to block the rest of the world then they can't even contact you to ask if you will post it to their niece in the Nigerian orphanage.
Pick up only, then no post excuses etc.
Doesn't sell/no fees

Hi no its not a Brompton or I would have put on ebay, they have high re-sale values and will sell any time of the year.

It's a Dahon Jetstream EX, a very rare (expensive to buy) high spec full suspension folder and I dont want to give it away for pennies to someone who doesnt know what they have and wont appreciate it.

Try preownedcycles.co.uk they are recently set up but don't charge much for a listing so it might be worth a try.

ebay only charges you the 10% etc. if it sells
so as long as you either have a fair starting price, or add a reserve it won't sell for pennies.

and if you list it for example for 9 days, so that it covered 2 weekend that helps,

Shpock is fairly new and advertises locally.

Sold a dishwasher on there recently, but then by the same token, put our sofa on there and had nobody call about it, yet had 45 people watching it on ebay.

I'd list on ebay with a buy it now price with make me an offer.

That way, you can review offers and answer any questions. Set it high enough and you'll discourage timewasters anyway.

Try the CTC - Cyclists Touring Club website - register & put it in the complete bike section - should work well as there are lots of commuters using the site.
