Bottom bracket diagnosis?

Virtually all of my stumpjumper fsr has been replaced in the last few weeks. A few months earlier I had new bushes all round, front forks serviced and bottom bracket bearings done. Anyway it is making some horrible noises which seem to only happen after very deep puddles. It's not the brakes. Don't think its the chain or derailieur and I am thinking bottom bracket. If after a deep puddle I then end up on a road section the noise goes away. The shifting is accurate and 'tight'. The brakes are new XT. So am wondering if silty water is gettitng into my bottom bracket? Does this sound plausible? Is it easy to fix / change?

Could also be silt on the chain. A BB swap is a doddle if you've got the correct tools, it's not if you haven't

Its a new chain and front and rear mech. Bike guy has checked it. It just doesnt feel like silt of the chain. Might go Bottom Bracket and at least then everything bar the frame is new or refurbished.

it does sound like its crap getting in/on the chainset. It's not an age thing, its a water and grime getting on things thing

Thanks I really dont think it is that as I have never had this before in quite the same way with quite the same sound and feeling.
I have ridden through the same puddles in the same area for about 7 years every weekend.
