Mystery Casette!

My Cube Peloton a Race (2014) came with a 105 10speed 11-32 Casette as standard.

Wanting to put a 2nd rear wheel together for turbo use and it seems this casette with a 11-32 ratio is non existent??

Pretty annoying. Looking at having to buy 2 new cassettes to match each other now instead.

Been on Wiggle, there's loads of Shimano 11-32 cassettes, to suit all budgets. Is it because you can't find a 105 one? They're all compatible...

Yeah was after a 105 ideally.

Is there much/ any diff in road and MTB casettes because all the 11-32's seem to be MTB.

Not many 10 speed either

All the same spacing, I've got an 11-32 on one wheel and a 12-25 on another for my cyclocross bike, I swap between them without any hassle.

Just checked the Shimano tech sheets, apparently they have never made a 5700 10 speed 11-32 cassette, it has only become available with the 11 speed 5800 range. Apparently Boardman, Fuji, Felt and Cube and Merida fitted the HG-81 10 speed MTB cassettes to a number of their bikes in the past, so I would assume what you have is an MTB cassette.

Personally I would be more inclined to buy a 12-27 and stick that on the road wheel, then keep the 11-32 for the TT (unless you live in the Alps!!)....

Currently the plan is to get 2 x 105 11-28's. One for road, one for TT? Bit more costly but at least I know I've same on both and can swap between wheels with no adjustments needed.

TBH I would go for 2 x different cassette ranges, I have a 12-29 on my TT wheel that I swap out if I am riding somewhere lumpy, otherwise I have an 11-25 on the road wheel - living in the Thames Valley it's all you need!

I know Obree insists that your road bike and TT setup should be identical, but unless you have a rigid and structured training regime and a full race calendar it really does not make a difference to the keen amateur!

I assume that you are training on HR and cadence when on the TT? I have never had an issue with getting the cadence/HR balance right, it just means you are a bit further down the cassette than you would be on the road bike.

you'd just be throwing money away. the HG-81 is better known as SLX and will work just fine.
