Had an off, damaged my bike

As the title, I came off on a downhill trail yesterday. Greasy chalk & adverse camber at about 15-20mph at a guess. The front wheel went & reflexively I put more turn in & reaped the consequences. In the crash, the chain jumped the ring & somehow wrapped around a pedal & I must have put a pedal down as I've ripped the front mech from the carbon frame. It's an slx direct mount.

The good news is there's another mounting point on this frame, the question is, since I've not taken anything off yet, does the frame look compromised or can I just replace the mech, glue up the damage & carry on?

Hard to see from the pictures but that bottom one looks like a chunk of frame is coming with the mech - and it's structural.

Honestly? I'd get that checked out and / or professionally repaired.

I would be looking to have someone with some knowledge look at that from what I can see you have crumpled the base on the seatpost joining to the bottom bracket and that takes most of the strain.

In the event, it was an overreaction on my part. I nursed it home with the mech rubbing on the chain, dumped the bike in the garage & briefly saw the damage, assuming I'd busted the frame. Yesterday, I removed the fron mech & it turns out what I've actually done is chip a big chunk of paint off where the mech mounts & handily in one lump.

I've glued it back on purely for the aesthetic & reattached the mech & it's good as new, unlike me with cuts & bruises. Lessons learned there, the trails can be treachorous this time of year.

So did the front mech bend, something had to give based on your pics ?

As for the lesson learned it maybe worthwhile changing the rear tyre as it does not look to me like it has a huge amount life left in it.

No the front mech is a direct mount. I must have booted it or wrenched it with the chain wrapped round the pedal as the cable stretched & the mech itself, attached by one allen bolt moved downwards a few mm.

The crash started when the front wheel went on a sweeping downhill left turn on adverse camber chalk. The tyres are racing Ralphs, so probably not the best for this time of year.

Ah makes sense now, and yep not the best for this time of year but you have worked that one out.

Just to straighten something out, the frame is carbon & it's shaped that way with a bulge at the mech mounting point, as opposed to heving been crushed in the crash. Hopefully that's clearer than the pics suggest.
