New rear wheel time for me I think, current 1 has gone again

Ok all, help me spend some money please After 2 rides since having my Fulcrum 7 trued, its gone again. Its an old sysle one with equal flange lengths on each side so is a few years old (bought 2nd hand) so I'm quite open to metal fateague in the spokes and or rim itself.

I certainly don't have the best technique for road riding, but certianly don't ride it down potholes and up curbs as I know these are more fragile than my MTB wheels. If I do meet a hole I need to cross, I'm out of the saddle to minimize the load on the rim.

Budget is £100 - £150 for rear only or up to £200ish for a wheel set as it might be worth replacing both although the front is perfectly true.

I'm 92kgs with another 10 for the bike and bits.

I'm a similar weight and had no problems with Racing 7s, I think you can buy a set for under £120.

Has anyone got any other suggestions from different manufactures like Mavic etc? I'm new to road bikes.

Sounds more like a crap true up job than a knackered wheel. I've ridden a pair of Fulcrum 5s on all sorts of terrain on my 'cross bike and they have been pretty bomb-proof, never required more than a small tweak.

Apart from one bearing and all the drive side outer spokes needing replacing after I got course tape wrapped up in the cassette and the chain dropping down the back that is.

It was perfectly true when it came out of the shop and the last ride, hence why I'm thinking age is playing a role here.

I've a pair of Fulcrum 7s that have done mega miles and never had a problem with them, cheap, tough and go on and on and on

Well, given everyones responses on Fulcrums, and the reviews online I've gone for another set which I'll use for summer and whilst the current rear is getting retrued. At £120 it would be rude not to.

I'll have a bash at retruing it, if I hash it up, the LBS can redo it.

5s are a lot lighter than 7s and not much more dosh.

The new wheels are here, woo hoo!

Theres a massive diffence between these and the earlier set I have. Not only is the drive side flange twice the size on the rear wheel, but also the rear is an asymetric deeper section and all the bearing caps are now have a clincher fastening. The biggest bonus is the new freehub, its near silent where as the old one is loud! On a par with some Hope MTB hubs.
