Trek GoBug Axle Issue

Okay, I managed to break the end of the axle of my kids beloved GoBug trailer. Trek pretty much deny the things ever existed (it's from 2008). I thought the PH massive May be able to advise on a source for the replacement part (maybe wheelchair builders?)

It would appear that I need a complete replacement for the brass end cap (it's threaded on the inside to screw onto the axle), a new spring and a repaired or replacement axle (the threaded end has snapped off - the cause of the problem). A new rubber bung for the end of the axle would be nice too.

Any ideas where to find these bit or have them made up?

It'll be some form of hardened steel. Suspect any machine shop could determine what grade and make you one up.

I have the same problem with my trek gobug bike trailer axel, I need those internal parts. Did you ever find a solution?

If you have a good axle, find a local engineering shop, scale model shop (think ride on trains) or prototype shop. Anybody with a lathe would be able to knock one of them up in a few minutes flat, for peanuts.

I'd be willing to bet, there's a few PH'ers with the right kit, lurking somewhere.

On a recommendation, I used a company call betd (www.betd.co.uk). I spoke to a guy called Rob and I think I sent the broken bits for him to copy. It was about £70 I think (doubtless loads of PHers will now tell me I was ripped-off), but he did a good job and it lasted until I sold the GoBug a couple of years later.
