Tracking App?

Anyone know of an app for android phones that will allow my friends/family to track me while I ride the Ride100 event?

So they can estimate what time I will be passing thier "cheeriong point"?

My mate had one for the London Marathon, but it was exclusive to that event... there must be a general app that works with Google Maps etc?

Life 360 is great. Used it for lejog.

As long as your phone has the app and location on I think any other user can track you who also has the app.

I thought latitude stopped working last year. That was why I used life 360.

You are right. Latitude has been retired for some reason. Lots of imposters have taken it's place.

What about Google My Tracks. That'll do the job?

Glympse is good for stuff like this. You can set a time to be visible and anyone who you give the link to is able to see your location in real time.

I can't get Google my tracks to do what I need, but just installed Glympse and it appears to be ideal!

Endomondo is best for this I've found. Not only gives your current location but they get to see where you've been. Updates pretty regularly. You might want a battery booster depending on how fast you are, mine phone runs out at about 5 1/2 hours

Get anyone that wants to see how you are doing to sign up to endomondo and friend you.

if you have the phone turned up they can send encouragement messages too - you might hear them.

I've got Life 360, also used Latitude etc, but the best I've found without a doubt is Real Time GPS Tracker by GreenAlp.

You can find it on Google Playstore for Android.

Very configurable - you can set it up to refresh your position at a user-defined interval, have viewers use a password that you send to them in an app-generated email so that not just anyone can view where you are. You can even have it only use your phone GPS when someone is viewing your position. (The rest of the time it saves you battery by not using GPS)

From the viewer point of view, they can click on your current position and get speed and heading information too.

Excellent app and I believe there's a new version, RTT2 which has more features, but I haven't had time to check it out yet.
