I was walking the dog around Harlestone Firs earlier today and saw that some of the existing trails had been expanded upon.

In all honesty, they actually look better! Berms had been put in and jumps emphasized.

I probably should have took some photos...

Who is building these trails? I'd love it if the Firs had more trails being my local ride and all!

Really?
It's 5 mins from my house - and is my local ride, I've not seen anything new (or indeed at all interesting) up there?

Some kids have built some really badly made jumps which try and chuck you off the bike though,

At this time of year a lot of the singletrack is unrideable as there are a mass of brambles growing across the trails - which are enough to pull you off the bike yikes

A quick ride up there leaves me looking like I've been self harming!

Brambles which can pull you off the bike?

Are you sure they are not Triffids???

Re: the 'self harming' look, my left leg is scabby from the knee down after a recent encounter with last year's Beech Nut shells in Minley Woods. They're not a great cornering surface (very loose), hence why I came off in the first place, and when you do come off, the edges of the dried out shells are pointy as anything - it was like putting my leg into a 'sharps' box. Ouch.

biggrin
I st you not. Last ride up there I peeled around a corner on one of my favourite little sections and there was a bramble 'branch' that was about 2" thick at chest height from one side of the trail to the other woven into the abundant flora. I hit it at a far whack and I got pulled into the undergrowth and off the bike yikes

I should really wear a long sleeved top because when I get back from a ride my arms are bleeding profusely and I look like i've taken to both arms with a razor blade. I pick thorns out of my arms and legs for days. I've stopped riding up there in the summer now!

5 mins away from me too smile

Hah! Yeah man, it does get pretty overgrown... I saw the 'big' jumps today... they looked a bit ropey...

There's some singletrack in the middle though that's pretty decent though, and been newly expanded on.
