Rigid forks dilemma...

Just converted my old Marin Nail Trail to single speed with the intention of actually using it. It has the original (2001) Manitou suspension forks on it and they're heavy, squishy, ugly and making unhealthy clunking noises. Fancy some rigid forks but don't want to spend a great deal(not worth spending much on an old bike that'll only see occasional use anyway). Need to be V brake compatible - I will, in the fullness of time convert it to a front disc but not a priority.
Are these:
new chinese forks
worth considering, or should I wait until these:
On One rigid forks are back in stock? (But who knows when...)
Or....
Do I spend my time trawling eBay for decent used ones? (soul destroying)

I've got Nukeproof carbon rigids on the front of my 2007 Giant XTC replacing the horrible things that were there before - Manitou somethings. Has turned the bike into a proper urban weapon and a real off-road challenge, esp combined with 1.75" slicks - love it! Forks were probably too expensive for the frame but has brought about such a great combo that I'm not bothered. Get the best you can afford, is the usual advice...

hunt around on ebay and the usual classifieds for some Kona Project 2s

Thanks both, I suspected as much. Those Konas don't half hold their money! I shall keep trawling unless or until the On ones are back in stock I think...

I looked around for the Konas too but too few and condition seemed a bit of a lottery. Nukeproofs were new from CRC and have been excellent vfm. No idea how they compare to either the Kona or On-One stuff

exotic cycles do some carbon forks that are pretty good as an option on the on-one's. I have a pair fitted to an on-one scandal frame. Work a treat and take fair bit of the buzz out off road.

Another vote for Exotic carbons, I've got a pair of 26er forks on my 29er, sharpens up the steering.

Pace RC30 forks, few sets come up on ebay, just remember older suspension forks were alot shorter than newer designs of fork, with longer travel.

Exotic forks recommendation here as well. They do a shorter leg for shorter travels suspension fork swops. Nicely finished and sensible weight.
