Any one else indulge in a little cycling silliness at the FoS?

I'm thinking specifically about the Skoda stand, with it's Summit Challenge, and the turbo trainer based Road Bike Challenge down at the bottom.

I got dragged into them by my son, and, despite a fair wait to ride to the top of their stand, the Summit Challenge was quite good fun, with superheroes and cowbells, etc...

The road bike challenge was far less fun, though. A minute from hell, at the end of a long day tramping around the site...

Still. There were medals and freebies for all participants...

...which took a bit of the edge off being beaten in a sprint by a smirking 16 year old.

I didn't realise Skoda had another cycling challenge as all I noticed whilst walking past was the MTB one.

The 200m race/sprint Porsche had was the only cycling challenge I did. My time matched Mark Webber's so I was happy with that. biggrin A few people had gone quicker than me on Thursday so I was never going to win the trip to their fitness centre place.

Did the roadbike challenge in flipflops and managed 49 seconds on a bike that was seemingly changing gear when it chose to rather than when directed.

Had a go on the Porsche one half way up the hill (10s sprint) and was frankly rubbish!

Good going to get 49 secs in flipflops.

I managed 53.78 secs, but was turned inside out trying to beat my son (50.96 secs).

To be fair, though, [racing drivers' excuses]It was the end of a long day. It was hot. I was in jeans and 'proper' shoes. I've missed a lot of riding recently through injury. I had come straight from the Summit Challenge, so wasn't as fresh as I could have been.[/racing drivers' excuses]

Apparently, a group of lads had set some times around the 40 second mark earlier in the day. I wish I could remember what the distance was now, though. To give my effort some context.

It was 700 metres with the slight incline at the end. I rode the bike furthest right and it skipped gears constantly, also did it in flip flops with the flat BMX pedals promising a major shin disaster if I had slipped. They only gave you 30 secs warm up so not the best challenge on a hot sunny day, scored 42.5 secs and cramp 20 mins later!!

There is a rather amusing picture of the OH with his medal after powering his way past Superman and that slightly weird old bloke dressed as the devil... Lol

On a hot Friday morning, and after a cheeky pint I was seeing stars for about 15 mins after. No time to warm down afterwards wasn't clever

Ahh see I wouldn't get off the bike until I'd had a couple minutes to spin it out, they just had to wait. Not sure the pint was a terrible idea, breakfast of Champions, loosens up the legs
