New Wheels question

Hi there,

I've got a new road bike (woo hoo!!) a Cannondale SuperSix Evo 6 105. Really happy with it apart from the wheels really bringing package down

I have a time trial bike that I use for Sprint Tri's and will be taking wheels off that (Mavic Ksyrium SL's) and putting them on the Cannondale.

Question is what wheels should I get for my time trial bike? Really loving the look of the Dura ace C50's but I really can't stretch to over £700 as SWMBO will go ballistic.

Really after a light weight aero clincher that won't break the bank but that can handle my less than climber like frame

You won't get a new, decent set of aero wheels from a big name for less than £700. Alternatively, look at Planet X's offering.

Sorry to hijack! I have a Planet X pro carbon, would I notice an actual difference of I was to spend £6-700 on a set of wheels? Or an I best off saving my money, not really to fussed about getting carbon wheels, would just be thinking about weight

Decent wheels are the single biggest upgrade you will ever make to a bike.

Get some that are aero and/or light that allow you to run nice wide rubber.

...and the Brucey bonus? Both come with a set of Wheelsmith wheels included. That's Wheelsmith's (alloy) 1430g Race24s on the 105 bike, and Race50 T23 full carbon clinchers on the £2k Ultegra bike too. I'm sure you could pay the difference and upgrade the wheels right off the bat too.

Only drawback seems to be a very limited size range. Just one size at the moment, 54cm. Too big for me, I fear

On the race bike I have some Flo30 alloy clinchers and some HED Stinger 4's.

Both aerodynamic and relatively light.

The Flo30 wheel set is a total performance bargain for what you get.

I would like to start offering them on our bikes.

Any reason they have to be clinchers? Tubulars might be worth the hassle on a TT bike, depending on how you use it.

Get a set of the 50's and be done with it. I recently bought a pair of the 38's and they're a cracking wheel for the money.

Have done for about 6/7 months iirc!- looks like a half decent alternative to the usual planet-x / boardman options!
