This has been mentioned in another post and I just added the list but thought I'd bring it to the attention of everyone.
Conti are offering a tyre amnesty whereby you take your old tyres into a shop on the list below and they'll exchange and fit a new pair of Grand Sport Race tyres and tubes for free!

Start cycles in Cramlington, Northumberland are trying to get their name removed from this and are at present not going to honour the offer.
Cycle World in Sunderland have suggested there will be a labour charge and you will have to book an appointment then drop your complete cycle off with them.

•The dealer will fit two Grand Sport tyres and two Race28 inner tubes at his premises upon receipt of the customers old tyres (non Continental brand), which will be disposed of by the dealer.
•No tyres or tubes will be handed over to any customer who does not present his/her bike for the fitting of the tyres.
•Each dealer will receive a limited amount of tyres from Continental. If the dealers supply is exhausted prior to 1st June, then the offer is no longer available from that dealer

mind you £10-20 of labour charge is ok....but i can buy 2 conti- tyres from amazon with free postage for £20.

I'm going to get a set of wheels trued at the same time, so hopefully they may waive the fitting fee
Whilst i'd love some free tyres, i'd be suprised if either of my 2 most local (not very local) shops told me anything ither thaan to do one. If i was a shop owner and this came about, i'd offer it to known local riders, not internet chancers. People only wanting something for free probably aren't the best customers to court...
On the other hand it creates a bit of footfall into a shop which you might never have gone into beforehand, potentially creating a new customer if they like the look of what you've got for sale and the service you offer.
The tyres are supplied by Conti and the bike shop is making a bit of money on the labour.
My LBS aren't on the offer yet but are trying to get their Conti rep in to sort it out.
If some shops are claiming they're not aware I'd contact Conti and ask what's going on as to why a listed dealer is not honouring the deal.
