ladies hardtail mountain bike

would like a ladies hardtail, happy to go second hand as I'm pretty competent with bikes.

5'5" so max frame 16", preferably 15"...budget say £500 and frame's the important bit for me, any suggestions?

I'm looking into a Merida for my other half. Seem half decent and have been around for years. Good vfm and more importantly for SWMBO, it's the right colour!my local shop is doing this for £500
