Out in Mallorca

Just got back from 4 days pedaling around the island of Mallorca. Great time, fantastic roads and weather. But coming over from Sa Calarbra saw a bit of an disturbing site and was a bit upsetting. we approached a police car which was parked up in the carraigway, the officer beconned me through, as I rode past I was confronted with a large patch of red and a body bag !!
RIP mystery cyclist ( reports in evening news mentioned cyclist killed on that stretch of descent) apparently got it wrong and smaked the cliff face. No others involved. slowed me down on a few descents thats for sure.

Where abouts? On the Sa Calobra descent itself or on the Femenia switchbacks on the run into Pollensa ? The Femenia descent is lightning fast & there are plenty of sheer rock faces to imbed yourself into. It's a great run into Pollensa but there is sometimes some tired legs & bodies on it can be at the end of a long day in the saddle. Shame for the guy...

Sad to hear This on Sa Callobra itself or the other side? I put all my effort into going up and just coasted down. Didn't know the roads well enough to be hammering into every corner.

So it was on Sa Collabra itself, i.e. the road you have to go down to come back up?

I think he means on the road from the top of the road heading down to Sa Calobra back to Lluc, i.e. not on the descent to Sa Calobra. It isn't a dodgy road though so I'm a bit confused.

That's the road. It looked an inocuous spot to be honest, but none the less, somebody got it wrong and paid the ultimate price. As I said, i don't know the full details, he could have had a puncture, be cut up by another cyclist, swerved to aviod a bird, hit in the eye by flying debris, many things could of happened. The only thing that was informed by the news, was that NO car was involved.

Was out there a couple of weeks ago. Just doing a bit of googling reveals that there were five deaths in April!
