Bit bigger than an 810 (it's positioned above it in the range), but same width. Lots of supposed amazing advantages, but looking on that link it doesn't actually have a lot, that I can see, which is past "bigger screen with higher resolution".
Interesting though, and I'm sure it'll sell like hot cakes! I still have a lowly 500 which suits me perfectly, but always considering what I'd get next

Physical size is bigger, but the visible area of screen looks barely any different?! the picture is a bit misleading - would be better if the bottom of the screens were aligned rather than the bottom of the unit.
I'll stick with my 800!

You'd think with screen technology today that would have done it edge to edge thus making the display area much bigger.I'll stick with my 800!
I've had a Edge 500 for 2 years; does everything I need it to (plus more). Only gripe is that is does take a few mins to locate a GPS signal, other than that it's awesome!

That's often because it has a lot of stored rides on it. Once you have uploaded them you should go into the Garmin from your desktop, find the activities and delete them, Should be quicker after this.S10GTA said:

Really? I'll give that a go. I usually put it down to it being a bit cloudy some days.S10GTA said:

Nope - still does it. I cleared the memory bank over the weekend so it only had 1 ride saved.Jayfish said:
£430 on Evans and that includes mapping, £500 is with HRM and cadence sensors.
Not too much more than my 800 cost me progress and inflation considered, might ebay the 800 and get one.
Really? my 800 was nearer 260 with HRM and cadence sensors. Not too much more than my 800 cost me progress and inflation considered, might ebay the 800 and get one.
It's easy to have free routable open maps on a garmin device with mapping.
I really like the 'real time' segment stuff but for Garmin Connect? Really???
Someone should tell Garmin about Strava, after all, many thousands have bought Garmin units so they can use Strava. Linking to GC segments is one of the most stupid ideas I have ever heard of. If GC was twice as good, it would still be rubbish and Strava has critical mass that GC will just not dent.
My other concern is that with a 15 hour battery life and the knowledge that Garmin battery life halves when you have the map displayed, the lovely new hi res map won't last a full day out cycling.
I really want to like it (and buy it) but these flaws are big ones for me.

I'm still using a 305 Forerunner.
It tells me everything I need. OK it's missing a altimeter and won't take a power meter, but I know when i'm climbing and don't have a power meter.
If I needed mapping, I'd probably look at the Mio 505 or Garmin 810.
£500 for a navigation / training aid is crazy!!
