I'm a keen cyclist and have spent much of the last 6 years cycling out on the road, be it commuting or for leisure. In this time I have seen all manner of bad drivers, heard all manner of insults and had one or two near misses. More often than not I carry on minding my own business. After all I'm the one on the bike and they are in the 2 ton piece of metal.
This afternoon I popped out in the car to take the family for lunch. There are various traffic calming measures on the way out of the village... give way to on coming traffic, my right of way for the next one etc. etc. As I was approaching the exit to the village I had to move to the other side of the road as there were cars parked on my side. While on the other side of the road I spotted a cyclist. There was plenty of room for both of us, but I pulled in closer to the parked cars to ensure he had enough space. As this kind fellow passed me I saw him inhale through the nose, look at the car, and gob all over my bonnet and in my open drivers window.
To say I was annoyed would be an understatement. I was livid. The filthy f*cking b
d.
It has wound me up even more as a cyclist. It's the sort of thing I wouldn't even think of doing. Giving someone the verbals is one thing, but spitting at them is frankly disgusting.

My complements to the OP for his restraint - I'd have seen red and done something that would have landed me in a world of trouble.
No need to mess your life up by knocking him off - you can rest assured that if he behaves like this regularly at some point in the future someone else will.
As a fellow enthusiastic cyclist and driver I despair at the actions of a few (both cyclists and drivers) who make things so much worse for the rest of us.
