Mountain Bike tyres for an Islabike Beinn 24

Hi there

Can you serious cyclists help me out?

My son has these tyres 24x1.5 Kenda Small Block Eight currently fitted to his Islabike but yesterday when we was in Sutton park and it was quite muddy he slipped a few times so want to get him some mountain bike tyres like dads!

Do you think these are any good or do you recommend something else?

Also I assume the exiting inner tube will be Ok with these tyres (silly question)

Those look a lot better than the Kenda. We have Islabikes and the Kenda tyres just clog up with mud.

They will be a touch wider than the Kendas, but the existing inner tbe will probably still be fine.

OP I would stick with the original tyres TBH. My son has the same bike and with the same tyres and it's better for them to learn to control the bike when it's sliding about a bit; and the tyres the bike comes on break away much more progressively than 'grown-up' tyres. Your son will soon get used to it.

They also roll a hell of a lot better than those you link to, which makes a big difference to a child's enjoyment.

Small Block 8's are great on dry trails and very fast, but useless in the mud as you have found out.
Those Conti's will make a big difference.
