New helmet?

I've been using a Giro Xen since October 2003. I haven't ridden all that much in recent years so it's still in pristine condition having never suffered any knocks. As it's almost 10.5 years old, is worth buying a new one? Do they deteriorate? I've built a new bike so will be out riding more nowadays.

I know this doesn't really answer your question - but I got a new helmet recently for the first time in years and was really surprised by how much better it fits my bonce and how secure it feels compared to the old one. Perhaps just a bit of luck, but I did try a few before I got the old one and thought it was more than adequate.
