I love my bike mechanic

Check gears, fit inner gear cable and adjust, strip down rear suspension, fit 12 new bearings, rebuild, strip rear wheel hub, fit new cone / bearings. Grand total of £60 (I supplied the 12 bearings). So only £6 was parts on his bill. Suspect it would have taken me all weekend to attempt such a job (and cock it up). Only problem is he ruins my man maths! Repair costs are too low to justify buying a replacement for my 07 stumpy fsr elite.

Not content with me munching my rear mech after bending the hanger back in the summer, my wife's bike had a fit of jealousy last week and did exactly the same thing!
When I took mine in, I was understandably annoyed about the looming parts bill to replace what had been an almost brand new rear mech (SRAM Force isn't cheap). I got a call back the next day to say "we've had a dig around on the web and found last year's model for £65 less if you'd like us to order that in", and they then charged me what they'd paid for it.
Likewise, when they called yesterday to tell me my wife's bike was ready and ran through the parts they'd fitted it occurred to me that they hadn't mentioned the cost of the replacement hanger (surely the most over-priced part of any bike!). Their response was "oh yeah. We found a spare one kicking around the workshop which was in perfectly good condition, so we just bunged that on for you".
They could easily have charged me £20 for the mech hanger and added £30 onto the cost of my mech and I would've been none the wiser. As it is, they've bought themselves far more than £50 in good will, and I'd happily recommend them to anyone looking for a bike shop near Epsom!
