I was shocked! Touran decides he's seen the gap between the car in front of me and the car behind me. And by jove he's going to come from the side road onto the main road and to hell with anyone pedalling furiously along. And then he decides to lean on his horn as I pass.
Cue the quite loud "It's my f
king right of way you dhead!" He stops dead. Then pulls out behind me, I'm sat up now, I turn and look at him.
He puts his hand up to apologise!
I put my hand up to say "Ok" and carry on. Surprised that a motorist in this country would EVER admit to a mistake. (I know a minority do btw) Much less if that mistake inconvenienced a cyclist
Saying that it was a strange ride. I don't normally go out at lunchtimes on Sundays. Prefer early mornings. Less traffic, less stragglers. There's obviously method in that madness

Saw 1 guy full Castelli nonsense didn't slow or stop at the pedestrian crossing, which was being used by pedestrians! Stupid fat fk. He got evils and I but inside thought "well done another bad name generated for bike riders"
The 4 idiots in full Assos gear who weren't going to stop at the junction in Richmond Park. Well they did pause nano-briefly then pulled out in front of me and a car I was just in front of. They got told they were dheads too as they got passed and dropped
The Peugeot 107 that nearly took out the guy in front of me because he was going to overtake another car and indicate and not check his mirrors all at the same time. He beeped too
Personal fav though was Cannondale rider who instead of just stopping at the lights was trackstanding/creeping his way further and further out into the main road. Eventually put his foot down, the lights changed and he was away like mad. For all of 100metres before he couldn't sustain it and was promptly overtaken and dropped by everyone around me

I dont have a problem with it, the clothing is a lot more functional than football kit. phil-sti said:

Its usually the opposite though, as in decent riders don't often wear team kit, unless its their own club/team. I have an old HTC top that I wear sometimes don't really care what anyone thinks.
I've also worn a few yellow jersey and a green jersey that I 'won' but still I imagine people look on and think 't

How is the clothing any more functional on a bike than it is on a football pitch? They are both designed to fulfil a purpose and come in a variety of qualities. My observation only is that people look a bit gimpy if they wear the head-to-toe but are not employed by their teams. That goes across many sports, not just cycling.

kers You can buy plain technical t shirts for playing football in. Do you really need a Chelsea top with "Lampard" on the back when you couldn't hit a bus from 6 foot? Saw a guy yesterday. Works colours Pinarello Dogma. He was fast, but had thankfully eschewed Raphas team offerings for more sombre gear. I couldn't even tell you what brand it was. Let the legs do the talking.
I guess I mentioned clothing because if you've gone to the trouble of spending a decent amount on gear then you must cycle a lot. If you cycle a lot surely you're aware of what you are doing. Running a red light and having dodge pedestrians. Or not giving way and trying to force your way out in front of other cyclists and cars. Indicates you are either a w
ker or ignorant IMO btw. There's nothing wrong with either brands equipment. Though Assos is IMO gaudy. Castelli seem to have a colour palette that only include red or black these days. Seems you HAVE to be Ninja with them. Which is a shame.

By the 'gimps' wearing team kit they help the teams exist.

Wearing inappropriate kit on the football pitch will also give a miserable game. Nearly as bad as wearing jeans on a bike I will grant you but not even the bike industry can argue that a team pattern/motif is faster than an unbranded item of the same construction. The team funding argument also applies to football kit. If you are not in the team then you look a buffoon wearing the clobber. If you want to look gimpy in order to support your team then that's cool, just don't labour under the impression that you don't look gimpy.

My first ride on the bike yesterday in 4 months (full time house renovation, and work, and cycling became too much, so stopped the cycling to finish the renovation. All done, hurrah!).
anyway, as a result - yesterday, I was in commuting gear, but clipped in, road bike, etc. Up a bugger of a hill that, up until last summer I had KOM on (5min 15), and I got overtaken by a youth on a mountain bike. First time I've ever been overtaken up that hill. He must have thought me an utter utter bell end, and probably posted on his forum about me. The swine!
