Thinking of upgrading

Currently running 105s on my carbon and thinking of upgrading to Ultegra 6700, I was thinking of using my cycle to work vouchers to do it. i want the works, Just wondered if there is any real benefit to the upgrade compared to how much it will actually cost? Is man maths just getting the better of me?
I do put in a lot of miles; I did 3500 miles on that bike last year and will be doing more this year. It’s a mixture of commuting, charity rides, group rides and weekend runs.

You will notice a difference in some areas but none at all in others. You could quite easily run a 105 front mech and not notice a difference between that and ultegra, same for the brakes but the rear mech and shifters are probably a worthwhile upgrade. Cassette, chain etc is negligible, chainset will be a bit lighter but i'd doubt there is much difference in shifting, upgrading the cabling to Jagwire or Nokon will make more difference in my experience. Have you looked at Sram Rival or Force?, 20sp Force is a bargain at the moment and I much prefer it over the Ultegra I had on the Boardman.
I didnt think you could use c2w for parts but if you can, I'd go for DA 9000 chainset, shifters and rear mech and stick with 105 for the rest, that said, I strongly suspect 105 will go 11 speed in 2014/15 so you might want to think about future compatibility.

Honestly Garry, it's not going to be that much of a difference.
I had Ultegra on my bike and the shifters died, I switched them to 105 and there is no difference. I now run a mixture of 105 Shifters, chain, cassette with Ultegra front and rear mech and brakes.
For the outlay, I wouldn't bother. If you are going to do it, go the whole hog and go electric

Like others have suggested you'd be much better to upgrading to Di2.

Was a bit of a pain sourcing it and am having to wait a bit longer to get it, but it has saved me over £200.
I've just upgraded my commuter bike to electric after the shifter failed on me last week. I was going to buy it from Vanilla cycles but found I could save a shed load if I sourced the bits from from different places. In the end I used Wiggle, eBay and Merlin cycles.

Also remember this is just an upgrade kit, not the full groupset including brakes, chainset, BB, chain etc
