Turbo Trainer - video coaching suggestions
Discussion
I'm planning on setting up my turbo soon and doing a fair bit of training on it. I've got some old plans I used to use but I find them pretty boring.
I was thinking of getting some 'coaching videos', ie a kind of virtual trainer type thing. Idea is to just play that and follow the instructions on screen.
Not really looked into it much so don't know if something like this even exists or if it's any good. Any suggestions?
Ps I can't ride on the road at the moment due to an injury.

I think it sounds like your after some Sufferfest videos, although I've never used them.
I am currently using TrainerRoad which I think is great. Following an initial test to evaluate your FTP you can then follow a training plan designed to build on your FTP. Personally, I'm working my way through Breaking Bad box set and keeping an eye on the TR data as I ride. The data is received on my laptop via a ANT+ USB stick and I wear a heart rate monitor and the bike has an ANT+ speed cadence sensor.
I understand Sufferfest & TrainerRoad can be used together as some of the workouts in Trainer Road correspond to Sufferfest videos.
You can also access some of the Sufferfest videos if you have a premium Strava account.

This! I use The Sufferfest videos tied into trainer road which controls the Wahoo KICKR to keep me on exactly the right power levels. I've just completed the 10 week intermediate cycling plan from The Sufferfest which was excellent. Highly recommended.

Is this most suitable for experienced riders looking to improve their abilities or can this benefit newbies who really just need to spend some time in the saddle and get used to riding etc?

I've only been riding for about 2 years and I really enjoyed the Intermediate plan - very hard work but I've really noticed a difference, not only in power but in cadence. I used to be a bit of a grinder before but I'm now much more happy spinning along at 95 rpm. They do a beginner plan too which I suspect would also be as well thought out as the intermediate plan. Don't get me wrong though, The Sufferfest sessions are (as the name suggests) tough! If you have subscribed to Trainerroad.com I believe there are a number of plans on there which you can follow without having to purchase any Sufferfest videos.
