Perfect winter riding day

After days of rain, more rain, still more rain, then some rain on top, today is perfect. Clear blue skies, not even a slight breeze, sunny. Bit cold but thats why god made cycling jackets.

Yep - perfect day for biking. Setting off in an hour's time to do my Gran Fondo Strava ride.

I've been out this morning. Really nice weather, but only managed 22 miles as I forgot my water bottle! I was exhausted by the end.

Planning on going out tomorrow on the CX. It's going to be wet and dirty and filthy.

Got out for a few hours, did a few PBs one the way out and crawled back home with a headwind for the last 20 miles.

Absolutely lovely day.

First ride on my new (budget-ish) MTB, a specialized Hardrock sport disc, my first 29er. Up to Brechfa, and did the Green & Blue trails. I thought it wise to get used to it before doing anything tougher. Also, Gorlech was getting a touch rough in spots before the storms, no idea what it's like now but judging by the debris on & near the green & blue I doubt it's improved.

It felt quick, especially on climbs. Probably just the weight difference between my previous Kona Hoss. That, and a non-rubbing front disc brake!

Managed 48km around Wilts this afternoon. Apart from a very low sun on the leg back home it was perfect conditions.

I even got a hello and a nod from a bloke on a road bike!

Did 25 miles with 2500ft of climbing at an average speed which would be seen as a stretch target by old women on mobility scooters. Christmas has really taken its toll! I only started to get into it in the last 5 or so miles. Beautiful day though, especially as the sun went down.

It was a lovely day for a ride. I venture onto dartmoor. Didn't know where I was for 95% of the ride but had good fun getting there!

It was. Pity the young lad made me wait til 2pm to leave. Managed 40 miles at cack pace, was freezing when i got in - temperature plummeted once the sun went down!

Now i really need a nice day next weekend so i can do the strava challenge, or a bare minimum 100k just to keep the job right...
