Can't comment on the 29er but my missus loves her 26" race. Decent components for the price and you can usually get some good deals, especially in the autumn as the the new year's models come out.
I've got the acid 29er, again, a fantastic bike but I to have nothing to compare it to. I do know that when I was looking at which to get, there was very little that came close to cube for value for money
My experience of Cube are average(heavy) bikes that rely looking flashy to sell. Their customer support is poor, I'd never own one again. I have a trek now which is sooooooo much nicer,more fun, quicker,etc,etc to ride.
