Are we talking first proper bike or something half-decent?

Decathlon do a decent balance bike for first-timer (GG Jnr has one), Islabikes are very popular for the next step up.

HA Ha, love the user name. My daughter turns 5 in a few weeks, this will be her first bike, 17 inch inside leg.

So nothing special required other than the colour must be girl friendly, budget up to 90 quid.

Has she ridden a bike before/can she ride a bike?

I've put GG Jnr. on a balance bike to start with rather than try a normal bike + stabilisers.

Other than a quick go in Halfords, she's never ridden before.

No, just my personal preference. GG Jnr is 3 at the end of this month and has been playing on the balance bike for a few months. He's little for his age and there's no way he'd manage the bulk of a pedal bike with stabilisers for a while yet.

The Facebook local selling pages tend to be good for kids bikes. The little one's grow so quickly they are usually in good condition because they've grown out of them before getting a chance to wreck them.

I've already got the next size up for my boy in the garage as someone was giving it away. Just needs a couple of tyres, and a good clean up and it will be good as new.

As before she's a bit old for a balance bike but get your 3 year old on one now my lad is 21/2 and has just started on his islabike Rothan, He's flying along probably ready for his first none stabiliser pedal bike next Xmas.

Islabike not cheap but defiantly the best
